The Research On Factors Of Internet Addiction Disorder Among University Students

In recent years, Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD), also known as Pathological Internet Use (PIU), has become one of the major topics in the research of psychology in foreign countries. By using questionnaires and case studies,selecting 310 college students as subjects, this paper probed into the forecasting functions of some psychological variables which reflect self-adjustments and social resources, such as EPQ-N,coping styles, social support and online support to the college students of Internet addiction disorder, in order to bring to light those influential dimensions which result in the college students' inclination of Internet addiction disorder, and to provide with some ideas to help to take active and effective measures to prevent those negative influences brought by the college students' over-use of Internet.In this research, we have got those following findings:1. There are significant correlation between addicted Internet Addiction Disorder and Nervousness Personality, and there are significant differences in the scores of Nervousness Personality between addicted Internet users and no-addicted Internet users.2. There are significant correlation between addicted Internet Addiction Disorder and trait coping style, and there are significant differences in the total scores of coping style, negative coping between addicted Internet users and no-addicted Internet users, however, and differences haven't found in positive coping style.3. There are significant correlation between addicted Internet Addiction Disorder and social support, and there are significant differences in the scores of social support between addicted Internet users and no-addicted Internet users.4. There are significant correlation between addicted Internet Addiction Disorder and online social support, and there are significant differences in the scores of the support application dimension between addicted Internet users and no-addicted Internet users. However, differences haven't found in the objective support dimension, the subjective support dimension, and the total scores of social support dimension.5. Through the regression analysis of factors, it was be found that negative coping, positive coping, online subjective dimension, subjective support and nervousness personality could be used to forecast the internet addiction.
