In 1999, Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China promulgated the regulation of'Booming Plan of Facing 21st Century Education'of China Central Radio and TV University and ratified China Central Radio and TV University as the experimental unit to carry"reform of personnel cultivation pattern and open education"into execution under direct instruction of the High education bureau. Since then, this experimental unit insists on theoretical study and real practice so as to create a new personnel cultivation pattern of modern long-distance education with Chinese characteristics. In fact, the main object of this experimental unit is to pull off a break-out development of teaching pattern, administrative pattern and functioning mechanism in which the reform of teaching pattern holds the core role.Under the above background, this paper proposes that the main learning style of modern long-distance education is the self-determination learning style. Therefore, the kernel part of the reform of teaching pattern ought to construct new learning way in order to realize the self-determination learning style. It is obvious that learners can be differed from age, knowledge background, learning environment and learning motivation. In addition, all the learners face such a reality that learning environment and learning process rise to big challenge to self-determination way of learning. Hence it is of much importance to pay much attention to those learners through improving long-distance education service system of support and help, which contributes to the original intention of reform of teaching pattern.This dissertation examines modern long-distance education and self-determination learning style as well as the learning process; proposes the connotation of service system of support and help for long-distance education; analyzes the necessity and meaning of this service system towards to self-determination learning style; and finally provides the specific content and material measures as well as relative security measures for the construction of education service system.
