Critical thinking is a logical and self-reflective thinking, and it is the foundation of creative thinking. But the traditional culture and standard education had greatly restrained the development of students' critical thinking. With the abundance of chemical knowledge and the new reform of chemistry curriculum, developing students' critical thinking has been proposed. So, research of critical thinking in Chemistry has significant theoretical and practical meanings.Based on the amount of related reference at home and abroad, an obvious insufficient is lack of measurement of critical thinking in chemistry. So design and application research of critical thinking test in Chemistry is promoted. Around the problem, investigated the middle students' critical thinking and tried to develop the measurement in Chemistry. The purpose is to summarize the students' current thinking level and reveal their thinking development rules. Most of all, it is hope to provide a new method and though of the research on critical thinking in discipline field. The main study carried out and achievements are as follows:Part1: Choose a whole class, respectively grade10, 11 and 12, investigate, analyze and compared students' critical thinking with CCTDI and CCTST. Results show that (1) students' critical thinking is at middle level and even a bit lower. (2) CCTST has grade difference, but without gender difference. CCTDI has no difference both in gender and age. (3)Students' academic sore has no significance relation with CCTDI, but with CCTST.Part2: Learn from the method of developing scale in psychology, considering the features of Chemistry discipline, and the assessment of critical thinking in Chemisty has been developed. Results indicated that: (1) reliability of questionnaire is 0.73, and validity is 0.36.So it can be used as a measurement. (2) Logical analysis method is used to check the Chemical problems test, and result shows that it has good content validity.Part2: With the measurement investigate students' critical thinking in Chemistry, who are the same in part 1.It shows that: (1) Students' critical thinking is a little lower than average level, especially of skills and querying. (2) Grade Two is the transition period for students' critical thinking development in Chemistry. (3) Students' critical thinking in Chemistry has a significance relation with their Chemistry records, indicating that it can forecast students' records. (4) High school students' critical thinking in Chemistry does not exit significant difference in gender, but in age.
