| Through twenty years practice of the mental health education in universities, some provinces and colleges have gradually accumulated some certain experiences and methods. However, there is so far less research on the evaluation theories in this field. And the existing evaluation index system also needs a lot of improvement. Bases on the existing research theories and practice, this paper advanced the principle and methods of the evaluation index system. And by literature research, cases analysis, expert consultation and interviews, the author elementarily constructed an evaluation index system for the mental health education in universities, in the hope of contributing for the higher education in China.This paper firstly studied the present status of the mental health education in universities, and analyzed the existing working systems. Directed by the evaluation theory and according to the actual circumstance of psychology education in universities, as well as expert interviews, the paper radicated the predominant idea and constructed an elementary index system.Secondly, selecting with the expert questionnaire investigation method, the paper improved and established 5 top guidelines, which are "organization management and setting, teacher troops development, education and research activity, counseling and guidance, hardware ensure" etc, and 28 secondary guidelines for a new evaluation index system. Each guideline had a proportion in the evaluating system. The criterion of the system based on the materials of the compiled reports from the National Ministry of Education in 2004, which contained the status of 48 colleges from 19 provinces. The system criterion also consulted the experience of 6 provinces, such as Shanxi, Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Beijing, Sichuan etc, and some actual investigations of a few schools.Finally, the paper tried to do practice on 3 universities with the newevaluating system. The result of the grade was consistent with the actual status of every schools, which improved that the new evaluation index system was a certain extent objective and practical under expectation.The evaluation index system for the mental health education in universities in China was still in an elementary searching stage. There must be a lot of problems in the practical working. However hard the criterion can be fixed, especially when the education level was such imbalance in different schools and different areas, the author wishes that, by revised and corrected in the practical working, this evaluation index system could operate a certain effect in promoting the job in mental health education in universities, with the aim of "change according to the evaluation , establish basing on the evaluation, integrate establishment and evaluation, and emphasize the foundation and development". |
