All through the ages, China has the "poetic Education" tradition and Poetic Education (PE) is one of the important methods in ancient education of China. The evolution and development of PE in two thousand years virtually have two purposes: one is to stress the ethics enlightening function of PE for the objective of serving politics and maintaining stable society. The other is to emphasize the poetic aesthetic character of cheering heart and arousing compathy and finally experiencing artistic appreciation.Principally, this paper has traced back the Confucian poetic education as well as other schools' poetic critics and reviewed the traditional poetic education and its teaching activities.PE teaching is an important part of contemporary Chinese language and literature teaching. Borrowing lessons form traditional PE theory and emphasizing on PE activities are the needs for quality and innovative educations and requirements for implementing the new language and literature curriculum standards and promoting its reform. Modern PE should fully assimilate nutrient from the traditional PE, make the most of its educating functions in ethics, intellect, aesthetics to purify middle school students' emotion and value viewpoints, enhance their aesthetic appreciating ability, broaden their outlooks, and develop their positive thinking to improve their comprehensive qualities thus promote their overall and balanced development.To foster the poetic studying interests of middle school students and improve their qualities, this paper makes a trial by establishing four models to implement PE strategy. The first is to use the traditional PE methods of loud reading and recitation to enhance the language feelings and promote the ability of students to feel and comprehend poem from an overall view; the second is to teach through emotions. The teacher should follow the aesthetic appreciation laws and extract the aesthetic factors to arouse the aesthetic feelings of the students and lead them to experience the beauty of poem.
