To construct a scientific, comprehensive and adaptable practical teaching system for the vocational colleges is the effective way to alleviate the prominent contradictions between the current vocational college curriculum and mode of training qualified personnel and the truly needs of the society, and train the new applicable talents required by the market economy, as well as the focus of the vocational colleges teaching research and practice in the new century.In order to obtain a framework of the theoretical research achievements in this field, the author retrieved, consulted and synthesized the achievements of the domestic vocational college practical teaching system, and carried out the corresponding research in the Lanzhou Polytechnic College where the author is working. During the years working there, the author gained much perception. Plus the interviews with the colleagues who are engaged in the management and teaching, the pros and cons in the practice teaching field of this college in these years, the author summed up the experience and analyzed the reasons and finally put forward some corresponding solutions and proposals.This paper is divided into four parts:The first part is an introduction. It includes the background, the significance of the study, the general introduction of the research and the design of the research. The second part consists of the present status and the analysis of the research and practice of practical teaching system in domestic vocational colleges. First of all, the author made a review and summary of research and practice in these twenty more years since the reform and opening policy, especially the years after 1999. In that year the policy of increased enrollment in colleges was implemented. In the following, the author made a prediction of the development of the theoretical research and practice based on the developing trend. At last, the author particularly noted the inherent relationship between the construction of the practical teaching system and the mode of training qualified personnel and the requirements made by both sides.The third part is the analysis of the practical teaching system in Lanzhou polytechnic college. This is the focus of this paper. The author first made a general introduction about the Lanzhou Polytechnic College. Then by analyzing the amount collected and pooled information and the interviews with the corresponding personnel, the author made a comprehensive introduction about the practicing of the system in this college and formed the systematic and theoretical understanding. Here, the author introduced the structure of the system, the supporting security platform, personnel training programs and specific training mode. And he noted the outstanding results achieved in practice, and then analyzed the existing problems and reasons. The fourth part is about the corresponding solutions and proposals of the practical teaching system. First the guiding ideology is explained, and then four pieces of suggestions are put forward:1. In order to optimize the overall system, the system should be systematically designed.2. The training of the students' operational and innovative ability should be characterized.3. The reform of the content, methods and means of carrying out the experiment, training and practice must be based on the modern economic development, technology development, industrial restructuring and the modern educational technology development.4. We must contrive to explore the co-operation between schools and enterprises to train the high-quality and applicable personnel , and gradually develop and improve the two-way stimulating, two-way managing, research and output in close cooperation mechanism.5. It must reflect the ability-based thinking. While constructing the theoretical teaching system, we must make clear that the core curriculum and its knowledge should be based on training ability.
