Along with the establishment of market economy system in China, the tripartite-structure model of "higher institutes-government-market" has been gradually established. In this new structure, the higher institutes have been the self-determination corporate bodies, which have to face the market. A large number of thier resources have to be acquired from the higher education market; however, this rate will be continually enhanced along with the development of economy and society. Because of the disadvantages of agriculture has been generally influencing agricultural universities, higher education market is prejudiced against the agricultural universities; what's more, we can still find some mistakes in the localization of agricultural universities, the agricultural universities' development is very difficult, they can not get rid of the puzzle dom of survival and development. Therefore, lots of agricultural universities sprout the impulsion to change their names; they look forward to alleviating their pressures and improving their conditions.There is a certain degree of rationality for agricultural universities to change their names. The rationality rests with: under the condition of commercialization, higher institutes' names have the functions of symbol, visualization, quality and prettification, so the name of a higher agricultural university can influence the education consumers' psychology recepts, and the recepts will influence their selections of universities. Hence, to a certain extent, higher institutes' names have the assistant functions of acquiring education resources.
