Based on the field survey , the study describes the situation of the music education in Longyan primary school and secondary school after the implementing the new music curriculum standard.The study is divided into three sections.The first section —"research background" describes the issue of the new music curriculum standard and the reform of the music curriculum in the primary schools and secondary schools in Lonyan. The former focuses on the new notion embodied in the new standard; the later mainly introduces the environment , human culture and education situation of Longyan. The second section—"the situation analysis and strategies" is the central part of this study. This section mainly discusses the situation and the strategies by combining the new standard with various survey methods from the four perspectives: teacher,student, teaching books, and the researchers in Longyan. The third section—"folk music taught in classes" basically introduces the folk music of Longyan, and describes the necessity and workability of introducing the folk music to the music teaching, and put up with some ideas on this issue. It was hoped that the study can do a modest help to the reform of music education in the rural schools.
