This thesis is to analyze the relations between middle school students'study motivation and family economical condition.The study is based on survey pool of 1567 students between Grade 7 to Grade 13. They are from four cities in Sichuan province in South West of China, Chengdu, Leshan, Ziyang and Meishan. The statistical analysis used includes one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients analysis and Independent-Samples T test.Conclusion is made as follows :( 1) In general, significant positive correlation exists between middle school students'study motivation and family economic conditions except motivation of avoiding failure. Students'motivation for success has higher correlation with their family economic conditions compared with other motivations. (2) There exists a higher correlation between family economic condition and self reliance and motivation for success in some aspects such as: academic study, social interactions and general success of students in rural areas than students in urban areas, yet the correlation between family economic condition and self demand, success motivations in skills and sports of students in urban areas is higher than students in rural areas.
