This study was undertaken to find out how I improved students'English level effectively by arousing students'self-confidence. There are two reasons for me to choose this topic as my action research subject: First, more and more students feel tense, overwhelmed and difficult while they are learning English; Second, I believe that building the students'self-confidence and helping them to surmount a variety of difficulties through encouragement and respect seemed therefore particularly important. The study records the process of how I did my research through observation, questionnaires, assessment, interviews and tests. After my research of more than one year, generally speaking, most students'behaviour in my class changed greatly. When I gave my students classes, almost all students showed eagerness and excitement in the class-activities. It is self-confidence that made the difference.
