Since the beginning of reform and opening up, the rural compulsory education, which takes primary and secondary education as main body, has been emphasized by the society. Especially as we enter the new century, Chinese rural compulsory education is in a new period of important strategic opportunities. The new Party and state leaders on different occasions stress the rural compulsory education as a top priority of the entire education. It should be said that rural compulsory education will has a bright future.However, there is a question still in rural compulsory education, which is that the rural compulsory education in some parts of our country is hard to continue. Based on this attention and consideration, this article takes a rural primary school in a process of decline as a case, and attempts to make a reasonable explanation to this question, through the exploration and analysis of the reasons for the decline of the school.At last, this article concludes that, to be out of the present dilemma, the development of rural compulsory education must integrate and optimize on the existing basis, organizing and proceeding in accordance with market rules.
