Self-study is an important theme of current education research, which is not only good for the students to improve their results but provides a base for their life-long learning and development as well.This article is aimed at the theory discussion about developing the students' self-study capability and the practice of carrying out the teaching mode of self-study. The main content of the article includes the following aspects: exploring the definition and features of self-study; the necessity to carry out self-study teaching mode in high schools' mathematics teaching; analyzing the main factors of carrying out self-study in high school math education; the strategies of how to improve the students' self-study ability; putting forward the teaching mode of carrying through "self-study" in class.Through a year's experiment and research, it is concluded as the following: the education guided by self-study teaching mode helps to improve the students' results and build up the students' self-study ability.
