Teacher education refers to the unification of teachers' pre-service and in-service training, which embodies the lifelong learning concept. Teacher education curriculum is a reflection of the education objective of the teacher education institutions, and the quality of teacher education curriculum has a strong influence on the quality of the prospective teachers. Teacher education curriculum consists of three indispensable parts, i.e. general education courses, major courses and education courses, which together help to equip prospective teachers with broad education, specialized knowledge and the pedagogical knowledge and skills that are necessary for being a teacher. Therefore, to study and transform the teacher education has become the mainstream of teacher education study worldwide.Since America is one the most developed countries in teacher education, the aim of this study is to learn from the successful experience in American teacher education curriculum so as to promote the development and perfection of China's teacher education curriculum.Through the study of the documents and analysis of the theories in teacher education curriculum of America and China, this essay draws a conclusion, reveals the features of American teacher education curriculum and the factors that influence the development of American teacher education and its drawbacks. Further, with a keen awareness of and a close attention to the problems existing in China's current teacher education curriculum, this essay puts forwards the instructions of the reformation of American teacher education curriculum to China.The whole essay falls into five parts. In the first part, to begin with, the author gives definitions to the most important terms related to this study. Then he reveals the contest on which this study is based. And finally, he sums up the approaches applied in this study and points out the significance of this study. And in the second part, the author reviews the evolution of American teacher education and its curriculum. In the third part, he summarizes the present status of American teacher education curriculum and its features. In the fourth part, he analyzes the factors that influence American teacher education curriculum. Finally, after reviewing the evolution of China's teacher education curriculum and analyzing the present status of China's teacher education curriculum and the causes behind, he puts forward the instructions of American teacher education curriculum to China in different respects.
