Chemistry experiment makes up of a vital part in Middle School chemistry instruction. For years, great efforts have been devoted to exposing the underlying theories and optimizing the methods in the experiment during which dominates the study on improving the traditional experiment. Recently, with the popularity of the computer, computer-based pictures, animated cartoons with voices are used to simulate both the process and the result of the experiment, which, though vivid and lively, is of little authenticity. In combining both the authenticity of the traditional experiment and the vividness of multimedia, chemistry experiment with multimedia as aiding means has a bright future.Chemistry experiment instruction with multimedia as aiding means concerns the appropriateness of the utility of educational technology as well as a full exertion of teaching art. In Middle School chemistry instruction, a proper use of multimedia will exert its advantages and blossom into prosperity of its application, but an abuse will run the opposite way and undermine the original function of chemistry experiment. Four chapters comprise the thesis.Chapter One deals with the background, purpose and the significance of the study with a literature review on the history and the general state of multimedia as aiding means in instruction and working definitions of some key concepts such as multimedia, multimedia technology and CAI.Chapter Two is about the theoretical foundation of the study from the angle of psychology, educational communication and systematism.Chapter Three firstly exploits the position and the role of chemistry experiment in Middle School chemistry instruction, and then probes into the functions of multimedia as aiding means in it. Thus upon the above discussion arises the conclusion that the advantage of multimedia can only be better exerted on the base of an integration of multimedia technology and the chemistry experiment, a command of the general rules to be followed in designing and making multimedia courseware and a balance between the traditional chemistry experiment and that aided by multimedia. To make the study more practical, lots of exemplars from real teaching experience are given to illustrate the general range and the basic mode of the application of multimedia in Middle School chemistry experiment.Chapter Four is about a correlative research between application cases of multimedia in Middle School chemistry experiment and the teaching effect, through which gains new insights into the application of multimedia aided means in Middle School chemistry experiment and proposes how to construct a reasonable system of its application guided by modern educational theories so as to achieve utmost efficacy of multimedia as aiding means in Middle School chemistry experiment. |
