As we' re in an era of knowledge-based economy, schools need to provide a better education for their students according to the need of the society. Based on this theory, schools throughout China have started a curricular reform in the first-and-secondary education. One of the most important aspects of this reform is that our teaching should be "students centered" , and the methods we adopt, which will ultimately have a comprehensive effect on students, should rest on the recognition ability and psychology of pupils. The teaching approach of VIPP (Visualization in Participatory Programs) puts students as learner-centered in the process of teaching, and encourages students to take an active role in the classroom. After studying various theories and the current curriculums, the author is trying to offer some suggestions on biological teaching in secondary schools.In this essay, the author firstly explains the origin, the history and theories of using VIPP, and then introduces the basic procedures and some principals teachers can follow, at the same time, trying to present some teaching methods of VIPP.
