To develop the student's research ability has became the basis of modern education.The main topic of this thesis is to discuss how to develop the student's research ability in the student's after class physics research activities. In order to effectively develop the student's research ability, help the student to understand the theory's inside content and outside form, this thesis considers combining the modern education theory, the unique characteristics of the physics, and the current status of the after class research activities in China to develop effective educational methods in the student's after class activities.Through the investigation of the current status of the students after class research activities, the analysis of the role of the after class research activities in the development of the student's research ability, and my two years' experience in organizing the students' after class research activities, this thesis concludes four modes to develop the student's research ability in the student's after class research activities: 1. hands on experience mode, 2. problem research mode, 3. research experience mode, 4. project study mode.These four modes have been successfully applied in my teaching. The results and lessons learned from these activities will help others to effectively develop the student's research ability.
