Reading and writing become two wings of Chinese language and literature. In order to soar to great heights, we need broad and wide space in our vision and mind. In our teaching, we find following phenomena: Some students read a lot, but fail to find the key-point; Although some students are intoxicated in their reading, they fail to express true feeling created by books. The reason is that we give little time for students in their free reading and writing. In order to enhance reading and writing skill of students and provide free reading and writing opportunities, we lead reading notes research into our teaching programme.Firstly, we advance the theory of combining free reading and writing in reading notes; Secondly, we carry out the research and survey of reading notes and extracurricular reading of middle school students; Thirdly, we focus on reading notes experiment on the basis of the aboved-research. Finally, we explain several questions in the experiment.The conclusion of the research in the form of research report is as following: Reading with notes has multi-function like showing individuality, forming good reading habit, fostering literary attainments. Therefore, reading with notes is the best way combining free reading and free writing.
