The traditional 5-step teaching methods are widely used by the majority of English teachers, for it is more convenient for teachers to control the English class by using the two models. However, the two models hold back the students' all-over development since the learners' needs and reactions are seldom taken into consideration. Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) is put forward as one solution of the problems in traditional teaching methods. Based on concrete tasks, aiming at completing tasks, combining knowledge with skills, TBLT helps the learners to develop and improve their language ability in the process of using language. So, TBLT, no matter in teaching aims or teaching models, is more appealing in theory since it has advantages of both traditional teaching methods and communicative approach. This essay analyzes the strong points and weak points of the Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) applied in senior English teaching. It points out that designing teaching activities based on tasks can encourage the students to learn English by using it and for using it;it can also make the students gain regular sense of success and it can help to tap the learners' creativity since the teaching atmosphere is relaxing and harmonious .However, originated abroad, TBLT has some disadvantages when applied in practical teaching activities. The test of TBLT is carried out and it proves that TBLT is more effective in improving the students' practical language using ability than the traditional ones. Besides, a detailed processing model is provided to present the practical procedures. However, originated abroad, where the language circumstances is quite different from ours, TBLT, though advocated by the Ministry of Education, is quite difficult to put into use.
