As a new teaching idea advanced by John Dewey, who was a famous American educationist, the activity course proceeds from students' interest and demand and lays stress on students' activity experience.Since language is a course with strong practicality, the activity course is very suitable for the English teaching. It is very important to implement English activity course in both English teaching and learning. From the angle of applied phonetics, the author tries to study the idea and practice of English activity course in Hunan Forestry School, for the purpose of fostering students' interest in English communication, improving their English language ability, giving full play to their individuality and specialty and developing their thinking ability and communicating ability. This thesis gives an overall and systematic exposition to the basic theory of activity course and the intention, connotation, teaching idea, existing resistance and answering tactics of English activity course in the English teaching in Hunan Forestry School and gives a concrete show to the author' s teaching process in English activity course.The experiment result proves the feasibility and superiority of English activity course. The author has also found some existing problems during the experiment. In view of this, the thesis has raised some tactics and proposals to settle such problems.Except the foreword, this thesis is divided into four parts: Part 1 purpose, connotation and characteristics of Englishactivity course;Part 2 idea thinking of English activity course;Part 3 study of practice of English activity course in Hunan Forestry School;Part 4 problems and tactics of English activity course.
