Since the 1980s, with the continuous advancement of China's reform to its higher education system, higher vocational education has been booming in this country for about 20 years and has made enormous progress and achievements in various aspects. Particularly, in the year of 1999, China's central government adopted a significant policy, The Decision to Boost China's Higher Vocational Education Career, to accelerate the development of its higher vocational education. However, China's education sector is merely in the very initial phase in the higher vocational education field and does not have much experience. Meanwhile, owing to insufficient understanding of this kind of education, unreasonable staff-mix in general and weakness in delivering practical techniques and skills, educators and teaching staff engaged in this field are currently not fully qualified yet. Therefore, higher vocational education in China is still at the actively exploring stage.This article tries to not only analyze the composition of the teaching staff in several higher vocational colleges located in Chongqing, especially the XX vocational college, but also examine the fundamental features and objectives of higher vocational education and then concludes the requirements to educators and teaching staff in higher vocational education industry. It also makes a deep analysis of current problems existing in the XX vocational college and proposes staff training objectives of the vocational college for the future, which has integrated and absorbed experiences of different overseas higher vocational institutes.To summarize, this article has been written to provide helpful advice on staff building of the XX vocational college, which would be of significance to the quality assurance and promoting the reform and development in China's higher vocational education.
