Development And Research Of CAI Multimedia Courseware Of The Network Based On Virtual Reality

In the network information ages, the multimedia long-distance education is one of the important ways that realize the sustainable educational development. A high-quality multimedia courseware of the network is an essential guarantee that the long-distance education can get good teaching result.This paper is based on Wuhan University Teaching Reform Project which is about the research of CAI multimedia courseware based on Web and VRML for a series of civil engineering structure courses, and studies some problems about the development of multimedia courseware of the network based on VRML, and the research results are as follows:1. This paper expatiates the basic requires, principles and methods of making of multimedia courseware of the network2. This paper discusses Virtual Reality concept and related technique, and classifieds Virtual Reality, and then puts forward that the Virtual Reality technique used in this courseware should choose Desktop Virtual Reality.3. This paper probes into the modeling problem about three dimensions objects in the fictitious scene and related technique, which supports the research of this courseware.4. This paper researchs Web3D technique, and points out that Web3D technique is a kind of three-dimensional technique of internet, and clarifies application methods and process of Web3D technique in the development of multimedia courseware of the network.5.Based on Web and VRML, four multimedia coursewares of the network are developed successfully, which are "Basic Concepts of Concrete Structures" , "Hydraulic Concrete Structures" "Structural Design of High-rise Building", "Seismic Design of Building Structures".6.The above four multimedia coursewares realize not only the long-distance education on internet but also the application in Classroom teaching. Furthermore, another important characteristic is that teachers can amemd the contents of multimedia coursewares easily, and some flashes realize alternating dynamic display, which is the very important characteristic differ from other old multimedia coursewares.
