There are quite a number of students in senior section of our school not good at Chinese, losing interest and having low efficiency in studying it. While there are also a great many students doing well in and getting strong interest in it. Why do students contrast sharply with each other in learning Chinese under the same conditions? By investigation and interview, we find that reading strategy has striking effect on students' Chinese study. Students who do well in Chinese can use corresponding reading strategies while reading different materials. They read much, have specific reading plans and persist in reading so that they gradually form their own good reading habits. On the contrary, students who are not good at Chinese have great trouble in reading methods .attitude towards reading, reading quantity, reading habits and reading environment, etc.Based on questionnaire investigation and individual interview, this article compares the reading state of students who do well in Chinese with that of those who do not to analyze their different reading methods. It also uses correlative pedagogic and psychological theories, connecting with the reality of Chinese study of the students in senior middle schools, to put forward the connotation of Chinese reading strategies and tutoring goals in such schools, and to point out the components and maneuverability of reading strategies. Then it lists some concrete methods on tutoring reading strategies in Chinese teaching,. including tutoring reading strategies in and out of class, reading strategies on the Internet and reading evaluation strategies. And it analyzes the gain and loss in the application of such strategies to propose some advice on reading teaching.
