The great number of international and domestic research showed that self-concept is one of the vital factors which can influence mental health. This article probes into the problem of improving middle school teachers'mental health from the angle of self-concept. It has great important theoretical and practical meanings. According to realistic needs and general statement of concerned research, The research is aimed at making the self-compiled questionnaire about self-concept and SCL-90 as measuring tools through which we discuss the features of self-concept and the relationship between teachers'self-Concept and mental health. Through questionnaire, statistics and analyze, we can draw the following conclusion. (1) Self-compiled The questionnaire about teachers'self-concept has high reliability and validty.(2)The middle-school teachers'negative self-concept relatively focus on aspects of physiological self, working self and social self.(3)The level of self-concept between junior middle-school teachers and senior middle-school teachers are basically the same. The self-concept between teachers in key senior middle-school and common ones is partly different. The working self of teachers in key schools is obviously higher than those in common ones, but their physiological self is apparently lower than those in common ones.(4)In the two aspects of family self and working self, it is almost the same for male and female teachers in middle-school. The social mental self and physiological self of male teachers is higher than female teachers. However, their moral self is lower than female teachers.(5)Middle school teachers have different levels in working self between countryside and city. The teachers in countryside is higher than those in cities. In other aspects, we haven't found obvious differences.(6)Middle school teachers have no differences at age in family self and moral self. They have differences in social self, working self and physiological self and shows a certain rule. With the increasing of teaching ages, the development of self-concept will first fall down and then ascend gradually.(7)Middle school teachers'self-concept and mental health has close relationship.(8)Comparatively speaking, physiological self, social mental self and family self bring stronger influence to middle-school teachers'mental health.
