Socialistic market economy has brought drastic changes to the society of China. Chinese modern cunstruction is developing at a very rapid rate. However, social modernization doesn't only mean the meaning of economy. Modernization also means the changing process of psychology. University students are a secial group of people in the society. Owing to the factors such as age, environment of life ad study, they tend to experience social changes. Because of open-door policy and imlement of Social istic market economy, in some degree, Chinese university students feels confused about " Culture Identity". China contact with other countries closely for globalization. Chinese traditional cultures meet with foreign cultures at a rapid rate. Some fashions brought by " Culture Immigration" naturally are focused on university students who have some money, spare time and curious.Using comparrative,documentary,cross-cultural and questionnaire methods, the thesis attempts to delineate the changes in fashion in China and America. And then through 1200 questionnaire, Chinese and Ameirican university students' choices of fashions, attention degree has been analysed. It is easy for us to discuss their different values and life style,and then we get to know how to help Chinese university students form healthy,civilized and harmonious life style and correct values.Through several aspects, this thesis reveals similarities and differences among Chinese and American university students, such as ,hi-tech fashion, culture fashion(brand fashion, casual culture fashion, pop stars fashion), consumption fashion. The conclusions come into being: Chinese university studetns are more loyal to fashions than American university students, while they are not as modern as American studetns. American students are more rational facing with choosing fashions. Their motivations are different when they pursue fashions. American cultures have affected Chinese university students greatly. Meanwhile, American studets pay more attention to Chinese cultures. Fashions are spreaded in different routes in China and America.This thesis also analyses 18 values aspects among them, and then educe similarities and differences. This thesis analyses the reasons of the changes of Chinese university studetns' values and bring forward some good advices of how to form correct and active values.
