There are some problems on not only the creation but also the selection of children' s stories. It' s important in the fact that what kind of children' s stories should be selected, and also that who selects the children's stories and what criteria it applies to. The selection of children's stories is a choice decision based on subject' s value judgment. It involves such theoretic and practical problems as educators' value concept, attitude, method choice and so on. Is there any difference among the writers of children's literature, the teachers in kindergartens, the parents and the children themselves on the judgment and selection of children's stories? What are the valuation factors that affect the choice of children's stories among different subjects?Selecting 10 children's stories as samples from some famous children's pictorials, the researcher investigates 30 teachers and 163 parents from two kindergartens using some questionnaires. The researcher also tells some children' s stories to 64 children in two top classes and surveys them by means of observation. The result of the investigation shows that:As members of the "adult world" , with regard to the preference and selection of children' s stories, teachers and parents come to some common understanding: while choosing children's stories, above all, teachers and parents take the knowledge and education into consideration; vitality and aesthetic judgment is secondary to the educational purport and cognitive function of children' s stories. The main differences between them are: besides the consideration of the factors such as knowledge and education, teachers also take vitality and aesthetic judgment into account. Teachers estimate children' s sensibilities cognitive ability more highly than parents do, while parents evaluate children' s knowledge acceptance ability more highly than teachers. Teachers understand the purpose of children' s stories better than parents, and parents have some provincial understanding. Compared with the "adult world" , children' s world is full of wonderful thought and pleasantly surprising discovery. By observing children' s "natural reaction" , the researcher concludes that the children' s stories that children like have the following characteristics that are ignored by teachers and underestimated by parents:Strong inspiration, abundant imagination and comfortable humor; children' s stories have children' s spirit, children' s world and children' s hope; growing up together with children, children' s stories particularly describe children' s bemusement and anxiety. In the "situation reaction" when teachers are on the scene, children' s oral evaluation of fairy tales is very inconsistent with what the researcher observes in "natural situation" , but it' s stupendously similar with teachers' preference and evaluation. This inconsistency shows that teachers influence the direction and quality of children' s fairy tales appreciation. The researcher profoundly studies the differences and concludes that such differences mainly depend on the value...
