Exploration On Establishing Developmental Evaluation Of Teaching In Higher Institutions

The evaluation of teaching is the key measure of ensuring teachers' effort, improving teaching and teachers' professional attainment. However, the current either-award-or-punish measure doesn't work effectively in promoting teaching quality and advancing teachers' professional development. Considering the disadvantages of the present measure we holds that establish developmental teaching evaluation system is undoubtedly the first choice for us.The thesis first analyses the concept, feature, function and theoretical basis of the developmental evaluation system. Then, it probes into the shortcomings of the present teaching evaluation. Based on this, it goes farther into the necessity of establishing developmental teaching evaluation system, and point out the advantages thus brought forth. The thesis also probes into the feasibility of establishing the system and holds the view that there are some favorable conditions of doing so. Meanwhile, it also points out there are some problems that demand urgent solution: deviations of the conception, the problem of securing the policies concerned, lacking in necessary theory and practice, etc. Last, the thesis put forward some ways of establishing developmental teaching evaluation system: On one hand, perfect the inner system which aim at promoting the professional development of teachers. Which including: perfect evaluation organization, design scientific evaluation project and develop metevaluation of developmental teaching evaluation,etc. On the other hand, cultivate exterior conditions which intent to promoting the professional development of teachers. We should take the following measures: alter the traditional concept, perfect the relevant policies and regulations , intensify the training of teachers and so on.
