Listening, speaking, reading, writing are four skills required in New curriculum standard. Teachers in senior high schools have influenced positively the teaching of listening, speaking, and reading. The training of writing skills is an indispensable aspect in EFL teaching. But in China, especially in senior high schools, the teaching of English writing has been for long a neglected area. Whether grade school or college level, the average traditional English classroom, tends to resemble a one-person show with a captive but often comatose audience. English classes are usually driven by "teacher-talk". Since 1980s,the humanism and constructivism have exerted profound influence on China's educational domain. This paper provides a teaching strategy based on constructivism in the teaching of writing in senior high schools, and further explanation in the teaching procedures, aiming to embodying writing process and learner—centered teaching approach. The following discoveries are made from the empirical study: active participation, exercise responsibility, group writing facilitate active learning; The students' writing interest and critical ability has gradually improved owing to peering editing and brainstorming; The students trained perform better than those without training, and changes in the individual students' awareness and behaviors in writing process are shown in experiment result.Hopefully the findings of this thesis will be enlightening to educational practitioners. The teacher should provide the proper learning environment for student to construct the meaning of the present object within their former cognitive structures to improve learning proficiency.
