In this study, the Learning and Study Strategies Inventory(LASSI) was used toexamine the learning and study strategies of 1334 Anhui province teacher trainingschool students and to analyze relations between the strategies and studentgrades, gender, majors, levels of perceived ability. It was found that:First, compared with non-teacher training school students, the strategylevels of teacher training school students were the same, but their levels in theMotivation and the Concentration scales of LASSI were much higher. Second,compared with students in low grades, students in high grades had nosuperiority in the strategy levels, and the strategy levels had a declining trendwith grade rising. Third, compared with students majored in arts, studentsmajored in science obviously had better performance in the Attitude, TimeManagement and Self-Testing scales, while there were no much difference inmost of other scales between them. Fourth, female students significantly hadbetter performance in the Motivation, Attitude and Test Strategies scales thanmale students, but male students had much better performance in theInformation Processing scale, on the whole, the strategy levels of femalestudents were a little higher than that of male students, but there was noobvious difference between them. Finally, students with high perceived abilityreported using more strategies than students with low perceived ability.According to the result, it is advised that normal college teachers shouldimprove their learning strategy teaching ability and students should beencouraged to improve their academic motivation and their self-efficacy.
