China is a society which bonded with lineage, based on region and founded on clan departmentalism. Clan is a primary link between community and people. Clan departmentalism is a prominent character and it is one of the most important sides to be researched by sociologists in China.so researching the detailed clan will help us to understand the whole development situation of China sociology.Pan Guangdan and Lin Yaohua are the earlier sociologists studying clan by using method of combination of China and the West. They breached through the predecessor's visual angle and put the clan into west sociology theories. This thesis elaborates the whole conditions of clan study in the twentieth century from society background, main contents, research angle and method. And we will find China sociology growing course of receiving and absorbing west sociology theories. In the end ,this thesis offers some suggestion for clan study and sociology indigenization and globalization.This paper elaborates the content from three sides. First, Chinese society has several stages after introduced from the west and sociologists pay close attention to clan research. Second, the main points of elaboration are Pan Guangdan and Lin Yaohua's clan research and sum-up clan study in the twentieth century. Third, Supplying some suggestion for Chinese social indigenization. The growing course of China sociology is the process of receiving and absorbing west sociology theories. The clan study of Chinese sociologists in the twentieth century contributes to China sociology indigenization. The clan study method embodies the combination of China and the west, which offers using for reference for sociology indigenization.
