The development of science and technology has sped up the pace of educational reform. Traditional teaching models are facing challenges of new educational concepts and modern educational technology. Constructing a completely new geography teaching concept by means of modern educational technology is the key to geography teaching reform.The integration of information technologies and high school geography teaching and learning can help improve mot only teaching efficiency but also students information attainment and knowledge, Web-centered information technologies have come into use in the field of education soon after their appearance, besides, they have become ,the focus of the applied research on computer education all over the world.It has been proved that the integration of information technologies and high school geography curriculum is effective. Web-based active learning, exploring learning and cooperative learning result in corresponding teaching models. However, there exist opposite opinions. For example, some people think that the effect of study in web-based learning environment is not good; others think that the design of web-based learning environment is simply the transference of traditional models. This article is intended to solve some relative theoretical problems in teaching practice. Three aspects are included: the organization of high school geography web information resources, learning models in web-based learning environment and exploitation of web-based teaching system. The aim of this article is to offer some helpful suggestions on web-based teaching model.
