For many years, "Deaf English" and "Exam English" are the problems that have puzzled us in English teaching of middle school in China. So some of the students' learning interests are reduced and they lack the positive inquiry and thinking, let alone the autonomous and innovation aspects in their studies. With the penetration of the western context, the concern with teaching and learning has shifted from the teachers' teaching to the students' learning. The concept of "Changing the student's learning style" has been put into the outline of basic education reform. This is treated as an important mission of the basic education reform in our country. Commencing from the inquiry learning, it can not only change the students' learning style, but also change the teachers' teaching methods. The inquiry learning is used to solve the practical problems in the logic sequence as its main line, paying attention to fostering the students' thinking ability, especially the development of the creative thinking. In the views of social constructivist and its related theories, knowledge is constructed by individuals rather than transmitted from one person to another. These theories also aim at solving the defects of the traditional systems of teaching theories, and putting forward a series of problem-solving methods. The core is to provide the students with enough time and space to think, make them actively construct their own cognitive structure and develop their own creative power. These thoughts agree with the leading ideas of the current basic education in our country. The important topic of the basiceducation reform is to put forward the quality education, creative education and lifelong education positively. English language teaching is one of the important media in the basic education reform. The constructivist theory being brought into the English classroom, it can better change the English teaching process and promote the quality education, which has very important meaning. This thesis tries to commence from the theory of inquiry learning, and taking the constructivist, the creative theory and their related theories as guidance. When combining these theories with English teaching, the students' autonomous innovation can be cultivated in the activities of English teaching. The purpose is to improve the students' thinking abilities. Simultaneously it tries to explore actively how to foster the students' autonomous innovation ability in middle-school English teaching model under the new situation.
