Unevenness Of Higher Education Development Among Different Regions In China

In recent years, the disparity among different regions among China has been an oft-discussed problem by economists and socialists. Based on empirical founding and multi-theory analysis this dissertation focuses on Chinese regional unevenness of higher education development in the methods and by the indexes planned from the developmental economics for the problem of disparity of economy and society among different regions.First this article makes a review of the regional development strategy and regional policy in China since the foundation of the P.R.China. The unevenness of economy among different regions is the basic situation of China. So does the unevenness of higher education development. In the part of the empirical foundings of the unevenness of higher education development since 1996 this dissertation gives a statistical description from the view of time series and space future. The absolute unevenness of higher education development has been enlarged since 1996; the relative unevenness of regional higher education has been reduced, but the unevenness kept on high level; the relative unevenness of beneficial higher ducation has changed in a fluctuant way and it also kept on high level.In the part of founding reasons why the unevenness of higher education development among different regions exists this part fist discusses how economic level influences higher education development in two different schools: Noe classic school and economic development theory. Then the relationship between the higher educational development and economic level among different regions is discussed by analyzing the argument among scholars and the correlativity between the higher education development and economic development. The conclusion is that the unevenness of economic development among different regions is the main causation of the disparity of higher education development among different regions and both of them are indispensable for each other. In the end of this part I summarize three aspects of effects that the economic level in different regions will bring to the higher education development.Finally, this dissertation gives some advice on the scale and speed of the development of higher education in different regions based on the regression analysis. It also provides some suggestion for the administrative levels and the subjects of higher education in different regions by quoting the example of Qinghai Province.
