Research On The Economic Effect Of Higher Education Investment In Western China

Today,as the world economy continues to slow down,the Chinese economy is also in a stage of replacing old drivers of growth with new ones,and transitioning from high-speed growth to high-quality development.In view of Chinese current economic development,the state has emphasized the importance of developing higher education in a series of work reports.The report of the 18 th COMMUNIST Party of China(CPC)National Congress points out that we should attach importance to education,especially the development of higher education.In the report to the 19 th National Congress of the CPC,we should speed up the construction of first-class universities and disciplines to realize the connote development of higher education.Under the guidance of a series of policies of rejuvenating the country through education,China has made many achievements in economic construction.Therefore,it is very important to accelerate the improvement of higher education level in western China,where economic development is relatively slow.There are many factors affecting the development of higher education,the most important of which is the planning and design of regional higher education investment.A scientific,reasonable and effective higher education investment plan plays a particularly key role in the development of regional higher education.Therefore,this paper studies the economic effect of higher education investment in western China,and its research Angle and content have important theoretical and practical significance.This paper focuses on the impact of higher education investment on regional economic development in 12 western provinces.On the basis of summarizing the domestic and foreign related research theory,using literature research on relationship between higher education and regional economic development in western areas' analysis,draw lessons from and summarizes the related literature,comparative analysis of higher education in the western areas into horizontal and vertical evolution analyses the present situation and problems of regional economic development and the horizontal comparative analysis.This paper adopts the empirical research method,establishes the reasonable econometric model,determines the econometric estimation method,and makes an empirical analysis on the economic impact effect of western higher education input from two aspects: economic scale effect and economic quality effect.The research conclusions of this paper are as follows:first,the investment of manpower,material resources and financial resources in western higher education brings about large difference in economic scale effect and economic quality effect;Second,the economic scale effect of manpower input in western higher education is positive,while the economic quality effect is negative in the short term and positive in the long term.Third,the material input in western higher education has negative economic scale effect and economic quality effect in the short term,but positive long-term economic quality effect.Fourthly,financial investment in western higher education has positive economic quality effect,which is greater in the short term than in the long term,while economic scale effect is positive in the short term and negative in the long term.
