There have been many researches on computer based learning mode with the development of the information technology, and some learning models are brought up, such as computer assistanted learning, web based self directed learning, web based collaborative learning and blended learning. The theory of web based learning has developed rapidly with the development of cognition theory. Behaviorism theory, cognition theory, humanistic theory etc. are reflected in the research of educational technology, but also some updated theory, such as constructivism , situated cognition, postmodernism etc have significant effect on the educational technology research. The instructional method has changed , emphasizing on teachers in the past to students now. The study methods of educational technology mostly have come from the field of education and psychology, which are mostly questionnaire, survey and theoretical study. There are seldom objective assessing variables which can measure complex change on learning process. This study seeks to find out a new method in learning evaluation , which measures the learner's electroencephalogram(EEG) and analyzes the learner's behavior in the course of web based learning.This dissertation aims at solving the following problems:Is there correlation between the self directed learning skills and learning performance?Are there different self directed learning skills among three learning styles? Is there correlation between learning style and learning performance?What are the relationship among self directed learning, learning styles and learning performance?Is there any relationship between EEG and some learning media?What is the relationship between EEG and learning performance?Method and Object: Participants are medical college students who joined in the college in 2003. Fifty of them are selected, of whom are 34 boys and 16 girls.Learning style is measured applying VAK learning style questionnaire, and self directed learning skills are measured using the questionnaire designed according to Self directed Learning Readiness Scale (SDLR).In this research, EEG was recorded applying Nation 24 hour Holter. Using the Cohn 10 20 Electrode Placement System of the International Federation, the EEG activity was monitored over 8 scalp location (Fp1, Fp2, T3, T4, C3, C4, O1, O2). All leads were referenced to linked ear lobes (A1 and A2).When students learned the courseware Anatomy and Physiology of the eye, their behavior and performance were recorded by the camcorder, and at the same time their brain wave activity were captured by the Holter. After the study, the students would take the test to examine their learning effect. Ten of took an interview to answer some questions on the learning material.A multimedia classroom, Nation 9128 24 hour Holter, and Sony DSR PD150P Camcorder were applied in this research.All data have been analyzed by SPSS11.0.Discussion and Conclusion :In this research, the students' learning styles and self directed skill were measured. Their learning process and EEG were recorded. By analyzing them, we have reached the following conclusions:There is a positive relationship between learning performance and self directed learning skills on the web learning.There is correlation between the learning performance and learning style. Visual learners' test score are higher than that of Auditory learners and Kinesthetic learners. There are no difference between Auditory learners and Kinesthetic learners on score in web learning.There are correlation among learning performance, self directed learning skills and learning style on web based learning. The self directed learning skills can forecast the learning performance by the regression analysis and there is no significant relationship between the learning styles and learning performance .Cognitive assessment curve shows the learning process.
