In the 21st century of knowledge economy, knowledge and its masters and creators will become the core elements of the productive forces. China's Entry into the WTO integrates China's economy into the world economic courses. Economic development and social progress depend, to a great extent, on the development speed and quality of education, and on the overall qualities of all laborers.Higher Vocational education is an important component in the educational causes of our country and has trained thousands upon thousands of applied technical personnel and high-quality laborers who have been offering on-site productions and services. After a brief survey of the history of the higher vocational education development in our country, the paper presents a relevant analysis and revelation of the development status, deficiencies and causes of the problems encountered by the current higher vocational education, and objectively analyzes the opportunities and challenges faced by our higher vocational education after the Entry from three principles of equality, publicity and justice of the WTO, three characteristics of freedom, competition and internationalization, and our education service promise. The paper finally proposes active countermeasures.
