Cross-border trade refers to a serial of consumption which serves educational purposes or is aimed at receiving an education abroad. It is the primary means of providing educational service, and an important factor in affecting the development of educational service trade. The research mainly involves education investment profit theory, the satisfaction theory and the human capital theory, according to which results are analyzed. With the use of qualitative research method and SPSS19.0statistical software, research into cross-border expenditure of ASEAN students in Guangxi universities are carried out in this thesis. Questionnaires and interviews are employed in the research as well. According to contents, the investigation can divided into three parts:consumption aspiration; fees including tuition, other fees concerning study, living expenses (money for food, clothing, accommodation and transportation), and fees concerning trips and entertainment; overall satisfaction.Through the investigation, such facts can be found:First, in the survey of consumption aspiration, it is found that most international students expect to participate in Chinese language training aimed at smoothing trades between China and ASEAN, and volunteering work or activities that can put what they learn into practice, and they also expect to be well informed of the changes taking place in China; some students also think universities should install more scholarship, and offer the curricula focusing on imparting practical knowledge and training.Second, the consumer-spending survey manifests that the total volume of ASEAN Students’Cross-Trade Expenditure is362million RMB in2012, and the average consumption of ASEAN students is42096RMB per year in China, and as for graduates and undergraduates, the average consumption is38414RMB and42988RMB per year respectively, for self-funded students and medical students, the average consumption is44481RMB and36893RMB per year respectively; Third, the survey data of satisfaction degree show that the overseas students are satisfied with every aspect in universities in Guangxi (the mean value is between3.75and3.22). Their satisfaction degrees in sequences are as follows:campus environment and hardware facilitiesâ†'knowledge and skills trainingâ†'dormitory security management and charge standardsâ†'education managementâ†'extracurricular activitiesâ†'scholarship obtainingâ†'the catering and its price in the canteensâ†'campus securityâ†'entertainment chargeâ†'price levelâ†'tuition fees and miscellaneous fees.Fourth, according to the analysis and test based on the theory of satisfaction gap, the gap between the desired value and the overall satisfaction value of cross-border consumption of the ASEAN overseas students in Guangxi is only0.05. It indicates that the students’desired value is consistent with the overall satisfaction value; they are satisfied on the whole.Through profound demonstration and thorough analyses, it is found that ASEAN students’cross-border expenditure spending has positive impacts on exports and benefits of higher education service trade in Guangxi, and that surveys on satisfaction with ASEAN students’cross-border expenditure spending also have positive influence on the size, competition, educational quality of higher education service trade in Guangxi. After the above analysis, recommendations are presented below: orientations of cross-border expenditure and education service trades should be set so as to enhance the qualities of China-ASEAN cross-border higher education; preferential policies should be made by government and more opportunities of receiving a scholarship should be provided; a university union should be established in Guangxi, to improve visibility and education service quality;Raise the charge standard of tuition fees, and reduce the education services trade deficit between the input and the output; formulate targeted educational plans to improve the overall quality of overseas students; build a platform for resources sharing on overseas student education and strengthen the quality of the teaching staff; enhance external publicity of universities in Guangxi to promote the internationalization of higher education in Guangxi; speed up the construction of quality assurance system of cross-border higher education in Guangxi to promote mutual recognition of academic credits.
