As more and more emphasis is put on people's life-long education in the society, it is necessary for teachers to cultivate the ability of student's self-regulated learning in order to keep up with the development of modern society all his life. Self-regulated learning ability, in my opinion, will make life-long learning possible. This essay deals with the research into cultivating such ability in the process of teaching biology in the senior middle school as well as proposes some basic strategies. In the three different types of biology classes for teaching a new lesson, revision and experiment, we adopt different teaching methods in the teaching process, such as setting the teaching aims, guiding students to make a revision outline, and setting the goal of the experiment class from testing to exploration, in order to cultivate their ability of self-regulated learning. In the study of this procedure, we set up a preliminary evaluating system for the ability of student's self-regulated learning. On the basis of analyzing teaching effect, we adapt the grades, interest and goal of learning as well as their learning habits and methods as evaluating targets. As a result, the general ability of learning in experimental class is superior to the ordinary class as compared with each other. It is evaluated in a synthetical way that the average grade of such ability in experimental class is superior to that in ordinary class by 7.776 after making a calculation to the three evaluating targets according to their certain proportion. From the study above, we can see that: the enforcement of cultivating the ability of self-regulated learning in senior middle school biology class can not only improve their such ability and grades but also benefit their life-long self-regulated learning so as to keep their constant development in learning .
