At present, the whole world is paying attention to the improvement of people's science literacy. And the k-12 science education plays vital role in the cultivation of people's science literacy. So it is urgent and inevitable to reform the k-12 science education and cultivate students' science literacy. Now there have been 500 experiment districts that started the innovation of science education in our country since the Department of Education prescribed the setting of 3-9 science course in June 2001 People are beginning to focus on how to optimize the instructional effect of science education. Thus we did a questionnaire investigation about "the application of Science & Education film into the cultivation of k-12 science literacy"in 13 primary and middle schools in Hubei Province. And we visited several primary and middle schools that made experiments of science course in Wuhan.According to these investigations,! think it is necessary and applicable to cultivate students' science literacy by using educational video resource.And I also found that most schools seldom used educational video resource,and there were some problems even when it was used.Therefore,it is important to do a research on the application of educational video resource into the cultivation of k-12 science literacy,which can not only make the relative theories more integrated but also promote the development and application of educational video resource so as to push forward the cultivation of k-12 science literacy in our country.This thesis includes five parts. The first part is "the cultivation of k-12 science literacy", which introduced the relative knowledges of science literacy, and analysed the development and circumstance of k-12 science education in our country. The second part is "the function of educational video resource in the cultivation of k-12 science literacy". Starting from the concept, sorts and characteristics of educational video resource, it discussed the meaning of the application of educational video resource into the cultivationof k-12 science h'teracy, and pointed out that educational video resource was helpful on constructing research situation, showing progress, solving difficulties and breaking through emphasis. The third part is "the analysis of educational video resource", which pointed out that Science & Education TV programs are one of the important sources of educational video resource. Based on the analysis of the Science & Education TV programs in our country and the comparison of them with the Science & Education TV programs in foreign country, expounded the meaning of the application of Science & Education TV programs into k-12 science education, and pointed out that the Science & Education TV programs in our country should improve from 8 aspects, such as increasing information amount, strengthening interests and emphasizing science spirit, etc. Besides, briefly introduced the websites on science education. The fourth part is "the application of educational video resource into the cultivation of k-12 science literacy", which discussed the circumstance of the application and also proposed several problems that should be noticed in the application. Based on the investigation report of "the application of Science & Education film into the cultivation of k-12 science literacy", pointed out that the application of educational video resource should be flexible, take advantage of different areas, combine with other resources and integrate with the course. The fifth part is "several suggestions on the application of educational video resource into the cultivation of k-12 science literacy", which pointed out that we should fully make use of educational resource out of school, use website to support the building of educational video resource, and embody the native characteristics of educational video resource in different areas.
