| Xihaigu, the mountainous region in Ningxia ?is one of the "3 xis"( Xihaigu ?Dingxi and Longxi), the most poverty - restricted regions in northwest China with poor both in natural resources and social economic. The education there undergoes lack of money support , backward in elementary education as well as education theory in school, along with shortage of teachers and irrational teachers structure . The current situation slows the progress of local elementary education and is unable to offer the intelligent support to social e-conomic development and improve people's quality. It not only has been in a state of imbalance of the local educational level and social development that condition each other > but also the essential restrictive factor for the sustainability of elementary education in the area .The paper, largely based on wide - ranging on - the - spot investigation, mainly expounds the importance of elementary educational sustainability for Xihaigu and also analyses the problems and reasons in the process of it. Moreover, the paper practically puts forward method of implementing the sustainability in Xihaigu in expectation of government using for reference in solving the education sustainability problems in the region .
