Studies On Woman's Subordinate Status In Contemporary China

Inequality of man and woman is still a universal phenomenon. It is the theme of our time to eliminate this inequality and raise woman's status. In my dissertation I review and summarize the theory on origin of woman's subordinate status in China and foreign countries at first. Then analysis the contemporary Chinese woman's status and draw up some main problems that Chinese women are faced with. After that the author explain the reason why woman lies in subordinate status from two angles. From the development of man history: physiological difference is an important factor; the dual differentiation of labor value is the economic cause; the transition from matriarchy to patriarchy is the historical cause; the moulding of gender role and the dissimilation of society are two main social factors. From the angle of reality in China: the economic status of woman determines their subordinate status; the weak in politic rights is the criminal cause ; the paternal family form and society form consolidate their subordinate status; worldly culture maintains woman's status; that government doesn't attach much importance to woman's emancipation is another factor. On the basis of above-mentioned theory, some according measures are raised in this thesis at last.
