Enhancing the ideological and political education among colleges and universities in Tibet has been the requirement of Tibet's modernization, as well as the aim of higher education and the requirement of people's all-round development. Enhancing the ideological and political education in colleges and universities along with deepening college students' political awareness is beneficial to the maintenance of peaceful and stable social environment, to the reunification of our motherland, to the unity of nationalities, and also to the combat ageist those who try to split the country and those who foster secessionist movements. Enhancing the ideological and political education in colleges and universities will help university students develop their fine qualities and bring forth new ideas, it will also develop college students' scientific way of thinking, promote their intelligence level and their physical and psychological qualities. Thus will the spiritual motive power and intellectual supporting force be provided for Tibet's modernization. The thesis is made up of three parts:Part one: This part gives a brief account of the special mission that the ideological and political education carries in Tibet's modernization. Enhancing the ideological and political education in colleges and universities is beneficial to the guidance of students to acquire a scientific world outlook, life outlook and values outlook. It improves the student's ability of understanding, analyzing and solving the problems. It can also help the students form the Marxist outlooks on motherland, culture., nationality and religion. Enhancing the ideological and political education, the students can better grasp the nature of the reactionary forces, and make a correct attitude towards study. And thuswill the spiritual motive power and intellectual supporting force be provided for Tibet's modernization.Part Two: This part analyses the present situation of the ideological and political education in Tibetan colleges and universities. Because of the all influences from the world, the country, the region and the schools, the content of the ideological and political education in Tibetan colleges and universities lacks reality and focus. The way of teaching in Tibet is simplistic and backward while the teaching staff of ideological and political education is neither stable nor of high quality. As a result, students' ideological and political condition appears to be various, complex and backward.Part Three: This part probes the principles of promoting the effectiveness of ideological and political education and measures, which should be taken. The author thinks that ideological and political education in Tibet should abide by the following principles: serve for the whole interest of the Party and state affairs, for social stability, a here to the principle of seeking truth from the facts proceed from the considerations of the actual situation of Tibet. Adhere to the principle of relying on human resources. As for as strategy is concerned, learners should attach importance to ideological and political education, strengthen the teaching staff of ideological and political education, improve teaching method and improve campus culture.
