A Research On The Rationality Of Homosexuality

Although homosexuality has a wide spread and a long history,a debate about whether the existence of it is rational and useful has been fierece some people believe that homosexuality is something that has neither physical basis nor ethics values,and that it is a malignant tumour growing in a civilized society,which should be cut off.So this paper focuses primarily on the rationality of homosexual existence and development . It consists of four chapters :Chapter 1 discusses some views on and attitude toward homosexuality in ancient Chinese and the Western coutries and what has happened there .The main introduction of the Chapter 2 is the understanding about homosexuality have had by different societies. The intrduction is made according to a sequence of ideas from irrationality to rationality. The main idea in the introduction is earlier sexology. It said that the homosexuality was psychosis,the homosexual had been called "pervert". Although the claim did had some values in the past,it has been doing great harm to the homosexual of today.Chapter 3 makes it clear that homosexuality is not psychotic but a erotic feeling based on the people's brain and human's sex lies not only in his productive organs but also in his brain. The author's supposition based on two reasons:one is the fact that the sexual activities of the homosexual are driven by their sexual feeling based on sex instinct. A special research on sexual appitite showed that the feeling and satisfaction of sexual appitite lie in brain not in sexual organ,that is to say the brain must be sexual. So the author believes that the nature of homosexuality is physical.Chapter 4 analysis the value base and value nature of homosexuality with the theory of value. The theory believes that value is something useful to some people. Value is not substance but relationship between a subject and object. The relationship between a subject and object can only be established in such condition that both the subject and object have different nature from each other. That is to say in the sexual relationship between men or between women ( suject and object),the subject is not certainly a real man . Although he has the same sexual organ as his object,his brain sex must be different from his organ sex .In other word,his brain sex must be opposite sex to his own organ sex . Otherwise,a man can't be interested in a man,a sexual relationship between a subject and object can't be established. This is a value rule decided by the man's subject role in his practical and cognitive activities.We must once again recognize the objective value of the existence of homosexuality,because the discovery of the physical basis and value nature of homosexuality makes it possible to argue for the existence of homosexuality in ethics. The existence and all-round development for both a society and ndividuals are the greatest value goal set up and followed after by both a society and individuals. That is,the existence and all-round development are needed not only by a society but also by an individual and the fomer is a prerequisite to the latter.
