Modem educational technology (MET for short), as a highland and breakthrough in education reform, has been keened on by researchers and executors. Based on the broad background of the interaction and interrelationship among information era, talents training, and education reform, this thesis has further analyzed and bravely explored the present condition and strategy in training MET competence of teachers in Chinese primary school (i.e. TCPS) by means of such educational methods as literature, investigation, comparison, induction, conduction, and case study. Part One outlines and elaborates the research background, present condition, and methodology of the thesis, pointing out that the present research, so far as its significance is concerned, will enrich and develop theories on Chinese faculty education, stimulate sustainable trainings of MET, and strengthen the simultaneous training of the MET theoretical and applicable competence in TCPS. Part Two, based on a careful examination of MET and competence connotation, points elaborately out such a concept as MET competence and analyses present condition and task in training TCPS s MET competence from a perspective of teache? s professions quality in new era. It simultaneously provides some suggestions for researches in pre-profession normal education and on-the-job training. Part Three, based on a survey on pre-profession normal education in TCPS, finds that the MET teaching and learning model has inherited the traditional model in teaching Physics and Chemistry. It further points out that the heritage is inevitably result in such disadvantage as the separation of knowledge from practice, and inharmonious training of?4 competencd? what?s more, it has, to some extent, wasted those active and subjective resources owned by pupils. It later suggests 3 strategies, for instance, the innovation of models in teaching and learning Physics and Chemistry as well as the reconstruction of new teaching model. Part Four finds that the MET competence of on-the-job TCPS has inherited traditional way of training by means of analysis of those traditional Chinese training methods and study of 3 training cases of MET in TCPS, pointing Out that this U If- heritage will easily result in the following constraints in MET training: (1) a division between theory and practice of MET competence in TCPS; (2) a failure in realizing overall sustainable training; (3) a high expenditure in training; (4) possible contradictions in administration of schools where trainees are now teaching. It later suggests the strategies to make perfect the training model for on-the-job faculty carry out School-based In-service Education, and analyzes the prospects for School-based In-service Education from perspectives of policy science, practice in primary education, and the training of MET competence of on-the-job TCPS. Part Five has made a brief conclusion of the fruits of the present study.
