Citizenship education is closely related to the topic of China's socialist politicalcivilization. China's 2000 years of feudal autocracy lead to the concept of subjectsand sense of civic deficiencies, which has became deep-seated reasons in restrictingthe further development of political civilization, and in building a socialistharmonious society. Secondary school students are at a crucial period in theformation of civic consciousness. Systems, formal school education, civic education,family education combined with the positive effects of social environment willcultivate patriotism, with the right sense of responsibility, the rule of law awarenessand civic awareness of qualified citizens.Civic consciousness is a modern social consciousness, healthy civic awarenessis the core qualities of modern citizens, it connect a country democratic system canbe extended and developed, also determine the social reality and the future will bringprosperity. In China, although there are already "citizens" of this concept, but due tohistorical and practical reasons, people have not formed the rights and obligations asthe main content of the modern sense of civic awareness, lack of civic consciousnesshas become an obstacle to hinder one of China's modernization process. High SchoolStudents as China's reserve forces of future modernization, should not only masterthe modern scientific knowledge, but also should have a modern consciousness. Thecurrent status of civic education of middle school students is weak, to strengthencivic education in secondary school students and training, for improving the overallquality of students, and promote China's political civilization and modernization ofthe country has very important practical significance.This paper is divided into five parts, Part I: Introduction. Introduces thesignificance of the issues and the background,research results have been reviewed,the definition of important concepts, research ideas and methods. Part II: CitizenshipEducation Theory History Review. Has combed the civic education ideas andtheories, introduced citizenship education in our country's history and development.Part III: The importance of civic education to China's middle school students.Strengthen civic education in secondary school students is the development ofmarket economy and modernization of the objective requirement ,is a must choice for building a socialist country ruled by law, is essential for comprehensivedevelopment of their young students content. Part IV: Analysis and Reflection of thestatus of citizenship education of China's middle school students. Analyze theproblems and influencing factors in Civic education in our secondary school studentsby questionnaire survey. The fifth part, proposed Strategies and Approaches tostrengthen civic education in our secondary school students. Learn a foreigncitizenship education in the successful experience, proposed the implementation ofour middle school students should pay attention to issues such as: middle schoolstudents citizenship education objectives, content, principles, approaches, methods,protection measures and so on.
