University Student Affairs is the important work of personnel training and also a strong complement to teaching activities. The development level of a university depends not only on scientific research or academic teaching staff strength, but also closely relates to the effects of university student affairs administration and the overall quality and capacity of students. With the changes of higher education from "elite" to "mass", the importance of university student affairs administration has become increasingly prominent, the voices and demands of its specialization is higher and higher. So the research of our university Student Affairs'specialized development appears to be crucial. Meantime, the professional standards show symbolic significance for the university student affairs. However, what is the meaning of the college student affairs professional standards? What kind of university student affairs professional standards our country needs? This research takes the starting point to the content of university student affairs at the background of the reform of higher education, using quantitative, comparative and empirical analysis method to analysis and appraisal. On the basis of the combination of comparative study and empirical results analysis, this research tries to make a few constructive comments for the professional standards of our university student affairs.Chapter I is the introduction. Starting from the reasons and significance of the title, the domestic and international research on professional standards and the student affairs professional standards of universities, this chapter explains the ideas and methods of this research.Chapter II focus on the overview of student affairs professional standards about university. Firstly, the thesis makes the definitions of university student affairs administration in our country, professional standards and university student affairs professional standards. Secondly, further to analyzes the student affairs professional standards in our country from the two points of background and function about the construction of university student affairs professional standards in our country. At last, the thesis describes the theory which this research uses. This part is the basic theoretical framework of this research.Chapterâ…¢conducts a comprehensive analysis of the American CAS professional standards including its background, principle, general standards and guidelines of self-evaluation, then analyzes its characteristics. On this basis, the thesis makes some inspiration to the construction of university student affairs professional standards in our country.Chapterâ…£analyzes the status quo of the development and professional standards of university student affairs in our country. One the basis of carding the historical evolution of university student affairs in our country, the thesis point out the status of university student affairs professional development through the questionnaire, and also further discusses the current situation of the professional standards of university student affairs in our country.Chapterâ…¤is the conclusion of this research. This part mainly describes from five aspects: first it identifies the division of labor and roles among the national government, universities and professional associations which are involved in the process of building university student affairs professional standards. The government plays the role of advocates, policy makers and promoters, the university is the main square who seeks out while the professional associations are the boosters between the government and university. Second the thesis points out three basic construction principles of university student affairs professional standards which are following relevant policies and regulations, strengthening quality management principles and focusing on feasibility and testability combining with the principles of ISO9000 quality management system. Third it defines the contents of university student affairs in our country including nine areas which are enrollment and student management, freshmen guidance, dormitory management, daily conduct and Incentive management, management of student financial assistance, guidance and management of student organizations, study guides, psychological counseling and career guidance and management. Fourth, it tries to construct the basic framework of the university student affairs professional standards which includes the standard system, common standards and content standards which analyzes in detail. Finally, the thesis makes a prospect for the use of the professional standards.
