Practical teaching is one of the basic forms of university teachings, which is relative to the theoretical teaching .Theoretical teaching is to interpret theories in the way of teachers'explanation and students'listening .Theoretical teaching mainly enable the students to understand the subject frame ,category and principles of their major so as to promote students'intellectual development. While practical teaching mainly includes all kinds of operational activities which make students participate in the teaching process, deepen their understanding of knowledge, grasp certain skills and improve manipulative abilities. However, for a long time, as the shackles of traditional ideas, universities'curriculum design in mode of technical rationality, the practical teaching has always been weakened.As is known, practical teaching plays a very important part in cultivating students'innovative spirits, practical abilities as well as improving teaching qualities. In different history periods ,university teaching has various value-orientation, and for this reason, practical teaching show different modes, which includes PBL, On-the-spot investigation, phenomenon on-show as well as experiment teaching etc. Under the influence of employment pressure ,current practical teaching emphasize vocationalism ,therefore, universities should earnestly change teaching concepts and deepen the practical teaching theory research, break original utilitarianism orientation, give the practice teaching new connotation, so as to shake off current predicament, highlight the comprehensive function of practical teaching. In conclusion, practical teaching should not only benefit students to master the basic knowledge of their major, improve students'practical operational abilities, vocational skills, but also including students'participant spirits and the sense of criticism in order to make students transcend one dimensional man and be a complete and whole person.The dissertation is made up of four parts:Chapter one: The first chapter is preface, this part introduce the background, the significance of this dissertation as well as the reviews and method employment.Chapter two: This part makes a systematic analysis of practical teaching in theory. In this chapter, begin from practice concept, present different period of practice, then define the practice teaching concept, then introduces the practice teaching significance, characteristics, types and functions.Chapter three: This part is the analysis of the current situation and difficulties of practical teaching. By adopting the methods of questionnaires and interviews, including the schedule and the curriculum setting in local universities, the paper finds the evident problems of the practical teaching in local universities.Chapter four: The final part puts forwards the effective improvement measures by analyzing the successful examples of some local universities.
