Study On Junior High School Teachers' Home Visits In Chengdu Area

The family visit, as a communication link which sustains teachers, parents and students, is the Bridge among school, family and society. Teacher's family visit plays an irreplaceable role in school education. But with the development of modern communication technology, the contact between teachers and parents has diversified increasingly:Telephone. SMS. QQ. Email and other emerging ways become more and more popular. Partial teachers and parents feel that the traditional sense of family visit already can not adapt to the fast pace of modern life, teacher's family visit is already obsolete, the communication between parent and school during the information age, should be more tend to convenient and swift. According to this phenomenon, this article has carried on the questionnaire survey and interviews in part of junior high schools of Chengdu area, to study and understand the teachers, parents, students and schools'views on family visit, and also the actual problems and difficulties in family visit. Then, the article elaborates the necessity and importance of teacher's family visit under the new situation of modern development. At last, the discussion emphasizes the important significance of the family visit to teacher's professional development.This study found that teacher's family visit which interviewed in Chengdu area mainly exists in the following problems:first, teachers of junior high schools are lack in the awareness of the family visit's importance, necessity and non-substitutability, a small number of teachers have family visits. Second, the family visit system is not perfect, and the family visit work is not legalized, the content and character of family visit in modern social do not change obviously. Third, the attention to teacher's family visit is not enough. Teacher needs to reconsider the concepts and behaviors of family visit, to implement the plan, then put it into practice after really understands this behavior.The author interviews principals, teachers, parents and students of some middle schools in Chengdu area, and has investigated for their opinions on family visit. Meanwhile, mainly from the Angle of teacher's professional development, to discuss the influence and important meaning of family visit.
