| How to promote home-school cooperation is a common concern for education reform and development in all countries.The Parent Teacher Association(PTA),as the largest and oldest voluntary organization dedicated to children and young people in the United States,has played an important role in promoting family and school cooperation and is the mainstay of promoting cooperative research and reform between home and school in the United States.This study summarizes the experience of the Parent-Teacher Association in promoting home-school cooperation,in order to provide reference and enlightenment for the in-depth development of school cooperation in our country.The research is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which introduces the topic selection from five aspects: the reason for the topic,the research significance,the definition of the concept,the literature review and the research method.The second chapter sorts out the three stages in which PTA plays a different role in home-school cooperation.In the first stage,PTA changed its name and gradually focused on home-school cooperation,but the effect was not obvious;In the second stage,it formed an equal cooperative relationship with the National Education Association,had the right to speak independently for parents,and actively advocated the government to clarify the requirements for parent participation;In the third stage,it insisted on implementing the mission statement,urging the federal government to establish parents’ participation goals and committing to the development of home-school cooperation.Chapter Three discusses the measures taken by PTA to promote home-school cooperation from three aspects: family,school and itself.On the family side,PTA is aware of the importance of parents’ right to participate in education,and constantly lobbying and advocating the federal government to attach importance to parents’ right to participate in education,so that parents’ right to participate in school education is gradually expanded;on the school side,PTA establishes an active partnership with schools,to obtain the support and cooperation of the school to promote the acceptance of parents to participate in school education;On its own side,PTA formulates home-school cooperation standards and guides,provide home-school cooperation projects and activities,and establishes home-school cooperation mechanisms in order to promote the in-depth development of home-school cooperation.The fourth chapter mainly analyzes the supporting conditions and obstacles of PTA to promote home-school cooperation.Continuous improvement of laws and policies,systematic and complete organizational structure,and actively organized education and training provide support for PTA to promote home-school cooperation.In addition,the challenges brought about by race and class issues,the degree of cooperation between home and school,and the differences in implementation caused by the unbalanced development of the association also hindered it to promote home-school cooperation to varying degrees.Chapter five summarizes the successful experience of PTA in promoting home-school cooperation,and proposes suggestions for the reform and development of our country’s school cooperation from three aspects: policy,organization,and training. |
