As the highest level of education, postgraduate education plays a very important role in the decision-making stage of building an innovative country. But the traditional and conservative education mode limits the innovative and practical ability of modern postgraduate students. To change this, an experimental education mode which combined theoretical knowledge and practical activities has been discussed and practiced in different regions around the country. Lots of students and industries are benefit from this new mode. It helps to improve the postgraduate student's comprehensive qualities and abilities by taking part in research and projects. On the other hand, it is also an effective way to help industry upgrade the technology and management by utilizing the best of talent and knowledge from universities, realize the university to serve the society and promote economic development.By using documentation method, this paper analyzes different patterns of postgraduate cooperative education at home and abroad deeply. After analyzing and comparing of the pros and cons of different patterns, the author points out that mutual benefit and complementarity is the basis for cooperation and the source of motive between university and industry; government's support and the macro-control is an essential condition for the process of postgraduate cooperative education.By taking the Shanghai Zhangjiang Industry-University-Research union base as an example, this paper summarizes the cooperative education model and the achievements of the base, analyses the operational mechanism from the following five aspects:dynamic mechanisms,process mechanisms, coordination mechanisms,the protection of intellectual property mechanisms, restriction mechanisms.This paper finds out that several problems show up in the management of the Shanghai Zhangjiang Industry-University-Research union base:The first problem is the insufficient dynamics. Besides,the division of responsibilities of postgraduate management is not specified and clear enough. The university curriculum system is imperfect. The intellectual property mechanisms has not been amplified. The outer environment lacks the policies that facilitate this education mode and regulatory authorities.In order to solve the above problems and further promote and perfect the cultivating postgraduate by combination of university and indusrty, this study put forward suggestions respectively for the Industry-university union base, university, industry and government.
