Metacognition is a important process in the learning activities,which is the thinking of higher level.Metacognition is cogniton of cognition process.It has important influence on the study process and effect,especially for sinor 3 studens who are in the drastic competition environment.The greatest value of appilication in learning aeras of metacognition lies in its ability to maximize the potential of students,reflecting the main role of students.Another valur of matacognition is migration.Training students' metacognition will promote student learning better and improve academic performance.More domestic and foreign research focused the metacognition theory and the application of metacognition in english and other subjects.Research on middle school students present levels of cognition is still less.This study aimed to investigate metacognition of the senior 3 students learning biology in Shanghai Minhang middle school,prove the difference between senior 3 students learning biology and ones learning other subjects,analyse the relationship between metacognition and motivation and learning strategies,make specific recommendations based on the result of the study for future Middle School to provide a reference for the biology teaching.Based on the literature this research used "The Metacognitive Awareness Inventory" and "Learning Process Questionnaire"that were widely used in foreign countries.Senior 3 students in Shanghai Minhang middle school for survey.through questionnaires,research and analysis the conclusions are as follow:the overall level of metacognition of senior 3 students learning biology is in the middle,and students are in low level of proprocedural knowledge, planning strategies, monitoring strategy and evaluation strategies.Metacognition of senior 3 students learning biology has no gender differences.Difference of the overall level of metacognition is not significant between senior 3 students learning biology and the ones learning other subjects.There are positive relations between metacognition and the academics of studen study.There are significant differences between students with learning disabilities and high-achievers or average-achievers.Achievement-based motivation is common in the senior 3 students learning biology,accordingly,achievement-based learning strategyies dominate.Regression relationship between deep motivation and metacognition exists.Changes in metacognition can be explained or predicted through deep motivation.According to the analysis results,sevel suggestions are given as follows:metacognitive ability could be better promoted through strengthening deep motivation.Teachers could instruct cognition knowledge integrating with biology disciplines.Teachers could guide students to specific learning goals and make plans."Self-questioning" and "thinking aloud"trainings could encourage students to actively self-monitor.Teachers could arrangement reflective tasks to promote students to develop the habit of self-evaluation.
